Strange Days, Old Times
Leticia Gomez’s highly detailed and patterned drawings pull together multiple cultures, time periods and origin stories into a true hybrid of time, space and being. Each drawing vibrates with colors that consume her characters and their habitats in landscapes that become universal psychological outlets that consolidate mythological narratives of the artist’s own creation. Her visual inspiration comes from Native American traditions, Egyptian funerary statues and African masks.
Leticia Gomez earned a B.F.A. in Drawing and Painting University of North Texas in Denton in 2010 and is currently the Outreach Coordinator for the Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi, TX. This will be the second exhibition of Gomez’s work at Conduit Gallery.
