James Sullivan
The Variations exhibition is a wide exploration of materials by well-known Dallas artist James Sullivan. Straw and plaster figural sculptures, a constant in Sullivan’s oeuvre, sit among rock forms cast in various metals. Large-scale drawings and prints echo both the figure and stone three-dimensional works. Largely inspired by desert landscapes, the works are a study of the archeological and Paleolithic nature of his various subjects and materials. The end results are elemental, timeless and essential.
