Saraï Delfendahl
Conduit Gallery is honored to announce our second exhibition of work by Belgium-born, Paris-based painter Saraï Delfindahl.
Paris based ceramic artist Saraï Delfendahl creates fantastical wall based figural sculptures modeled in earthenware and enameled. Elaborately detailed and inspired by fables, Decorative Arts and Art Brut, each form measures approximately twelve inches high and congregate into a coterie of human/animal hybrids. The Models series is Delfendahl’s endeavor to create a collection of her own making similar to the Kachina dolls Delfendahl first experienced in a reproduction of French Surrealist Andre Breton’s collection. In addition to the ceramic sculptures, a collection of works on paper will accompany the exhibition.
Delfendahl lives and works in Paris, France and is a graduate of the National School of Industrial Design in Paris. She is the daughter of well-known Australian ethnologist Bernard Delfendahl who took the young Delfendahl at an early age to anthropological museums such as the Musée de l'Homme and the Musée du Quai Branly. Saraï has exhibited in Paris, at the Palais de Tokyo, Brussels, London, Milano and Tokyo.
