Still Life

Joe Mancuso

Joe Mancuso’s large-scale canvases of living and dead floral bouquets are delicate line studies of the residual impressions of his iconic subjects. Mancuso uses a restrained palette employing whites, grays, and blacks, with accents of muted reds. In these paintings, Mancuso’s penchant for the use of mathematical patterning gives way to a loose romanticism of mark making. With exacting restraint and considerable understatement Joe Mancuso proves again and again that less is indeed more.
