April 7 — May 12, 2018
Conduit Gallery is delighted to announce a solo exhibition of paintings by Fort Worth based artist, Kirk Hayes.
Kirk Hayes will show a much anticipated series of trompe-l'oeil paintings. At first glance Hayes’ paintings appear to be quickly rendered collage on a wood surface, yet each is a painstakingly meticulous oil painting, the subjects of which explore the beauty and sorrow of human experience.
Kirk Hayes is a self-taught artist who has exhibited with Conduit Gallery since 1997. Since 2003 his paintings have been added to the museum collections of: The Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, TX; The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Fort Worth, TX; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX; The Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, TX and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, KS.
Recent solo exhibitions include: Old Artist Pissing At The Moon, Horton, New York, NY (2017); Rule by Fear, Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus, OH (2013); The Artist Declares Victory, Horton Gallery, New York, NY (2012). Selected Group Exhibitions: The Guston Effect, Steven Zevitas Gallery, Boston, MA (2015); Oppenheimer@20, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, KS (2012); Yeah we friends and shit, Josée Bienvenu Gallery, New York, NY (2012).
