James Sullivan

In recent years Dallas artist James Sullivan has further pushed his exploration of materials. Straw and plaster figural sculptures, a constant in Sullivan's oeuvre, sit among rock forms cast in various metals. Large-scale drawings and prints echo both the figure and stone three-dimensional works. The work in the show, including the large cast iron rock forms, were originally modeled in a 3-D digital haptic modeling system. The iron was then cast at Mabry Foundry, Beaumont, Texas. The smaller digital sculptures are 3-D Z-Corp prints made using the facilities of the Research Center for Advanced Manufacturing in the Lyle School of Engineering, at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
