Skin Hunger
Conduit Gallery is honored to announce Skin Hunger, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Dallas based artist, Albert Scherbarth.
Scherbarth’s drawings are born of the direct effects of the pandemic on his life rhythms and overall livelihood. His compulsion to draw as a panacea to the despair resulted in a body of work that, for the artist, has been a centering force. The drawings address the carnal, biological ache of aloneness that so many have been forced into. These shapes and beings, rendered in Prismacolor pencil evoke Scherbarth’s sense of touch unavailable in current circumstances.
An artist/fabricator of many disciplines, Scherbarth, originally from rural Nebraska, earned an MFA in printmaking specializing in lithography in 1981 from the University of Dallas. His personal artistic practice has been informed by his myriad professional endeavors ranging from print making, furniture making, steel and metal working.
