Conduit Gallery is delighted to announce a solo exhibition of work by Austin based artist, Drew Liverman.
Liverman’s work examines the simple and mundane moments in our lives that are frequently overlooked. He approaches his work intuitively and with an aesthetic that at first may seem incomplete, unbalanced or rough. He is intentionally breaking from traditional methods and concepts of perfection to find a beauty and create an intimacy within his work. Liverman starts with marker drawings on paper – markers because they’re portable and allow a fluidity of production in a fleeting distracted world. He then paints the drawings as oil paintings on a variety of substrates. His work for this show in the Project Room is a series of domestic interiors or still-lifes that share his “kitchen table” as a unifying motif.
Drew Liverman is an artist and designer living in Austin, Texas. Drew received his B.F.A. in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002. Drew’s drawing, painting, screen-printing, video/animation, and installation work has been featured in Beautiful Decay Magazine and shown in The Centre for Contemporary Arts Glasgow, Scotland; Atelier als Supermedium Artists Space for Contemporary Art Den Haag/Rijswijk, The Netherlands; and the Lawndale Art Center in Houston, Texas. In addition to his personal work, Drew contributes to the Austin, Texas based art collective, Boozefox and has been an active MASS member since 2007.
